NLTD 22: Kvale & Ayfie Presents Legal AI Use Cases

Technology is revolutionising the practice of law. Nordic Legal Tech Day (NLTD) in Oslo this year spot lit innovation, ESG and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Alongside Kvale, Ayfie presented real life use cases of using AI in legal work. Here is what we presented.

As digitalisation changes how we work, it is important that lawyers take initiative and responsibility on what for most is a new arena. Ayfie was one of the sponsors of Nordic Legal Tech Day in Oslo. We believe in developing technology that can assist lawyers in their work, making them more efficient and effective.

Our products are based on cutting-edge NLP and ML algorithms, and we offer APIs that can be used to develop custom applications. At Nordic Legal Tech Day we teamed up with our partner Kvale Law Firm to present some ways in which we can assist lawyers working on document classification. On stage was Ayfie's CEO Herman Sjøberg and Partner of Kvale Advokatfirma, Per-Kaare Svendsen.

Here is a brief summary of our talk:

NLP has been around for a long time, since its start in the 1950s. With the advance of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and lower cost of hardware, the progress has been enormous since 2013.Today’s pretrained models lower the bar for companies (and any tech savvy user) to get started with Natural Language Processing (NLP).

The new state of the art language models for NLP such as ELMo and BERT represent many possibilities regarding text classification. Ayfie is now combining NLP with ML algorithms to deliver new functionality in this space.

Client collaboration to ensure the right product development has never been more important (e.g. Kvale). Ayfie and Kvale have been working together the past 4.5 years to design and built a good solution to help with classification of documents, discovering documents with clausal and working on these documents, as well as collaborate on them with others.

Low-code/no-code developer platforms enable users of all skill levels to design applications. You do not need to be technically gifted nor specially trained to take use of solutions like these. Ayfie even offers a new playground for developers and all users interested in testing our new text analysis APIs, for free. This is, in other words, available to everyone.

In the video below, you can hear Per-Kaare Svendsen from Kvale speak about the collaboration with Ayfie at Oslo NLTD:
